(Translation by Pujya Swami Chidananda; Published by Fowai Forum, Mumbai) Peace Invocation That (cause of this world) is whole. This (visible world) is whole. From the whole (infinite Reality), proceeds the whole (conditioned Creation). Realizing (through wisdom) the wholeness of the whole (conditioned Creation), there remains the whole (unconditioned, infinite) alone. Om ! Peace! Peace! Peace! See all this - whatsoever moves on earth - as the Lord alone. Give up other notions. Through such renunciation, protect yourself. Be not greedy. After all, whose is wealth? (1) While performing actions only, on this earth, you should desire to live for a hundred years. So long as you do this way, work will not bind you. There is no other way than this (devoted, selfless activity), for you to remain untainted. (2) People who slay the Self proceed, after their death, to malignant worlds enveloped in blinding darkness (3) The Self is unmoving; it is one; it is faster than the mind. The sense organs can never reach it. It goes before. Standing, it outstrips other that run. It being there, Wind (the active principle in all living beings) allots and supports all activities. (4) The Self-Principle moves; it moves not. It is far; it is near. It is inside all this; it is also outside all this. (5) See all in yourself. See yourself in all. All aversion will come to an end out of this vision. (6) When you have this wisdom, you discover the unity of all life. All living beings become your own Self. What delusion can remain and what sorrow can survive this liberating vision? (7) The Pure Self pervades all. It is bright and is not bound by a body. There are no wounds in it; no veins run in it. It is pure. Sin cannot come near it. It is a seer. It knows all. It is above all and is self-begotten. This Principle duly allots to the eternal creators their various duties. (8) Those who adhere to karma pass into blinding darkness; and those who get absorbed in upasana (qualified meditation) pass into still greater darkness. (9) The fruits borne by upasana and karma are distinct. Thus have we heard from the sages who taught us that. (10) He who understands upasana and karma as going together overcomes death through karma and attains immortality through upasana. (11) Those who are devoted to the unmanifest pass into blinding darkness; and those who delight in the manifest pass into still greater darkness. (12) What results from the manifest and what does from unmanifest are distinct. Thus have we heard from the sages who taught us that. (13) She who understands the manifest and the unmanifest as going together overcomes death through the manifest and attains immortality through the unmanifest. (14) A golden lid covers the face of truth. O Pushan, remove that so I, a devotee of truth, may see it. (15) O Pusan, sole traveler, Yama, Sun, child of Prajapati, recall your rays; withdraw your light that i may behold you of the loveliest form. Whosoever that Person is, that also am I. (16) May this life merge in the immortal breath and may this body end in ashes. Om. Mind, remember, remember your deeds. Mind, remember, remember your deeds. (17) O God Agni, lead us on to prosperity by a good path, judging all our deeds. Take away ugly sin from us. We shall say many prayers unto you. (18) That (cause of this world) is whole. This (visible world) is whole. From the whole (infinite Reality), proceeds the whole (conditioned Creation). Realizing (through wisdom) the wholeness of the whole (conditioned Creation), there remains the whole (unconditioned, infinite) alone. Om ! Peace! Peace! Peace!
