Earn well; let it not be an end in itself!

The Upanishads spoke of a healthy and prosperous life and did not teach poverty. The Upanishadic society was not a consumerist one but had the wealth and means to meet one’s needs. “Do not give up acquisition of wealth,” advises the Rishi but cautions, “Do so with legitimate means.”
Do not be negligent with regard to prosperity.
